Our Philosophy: Sports as a Path to Personal Growth
HSEI student-athletes learn that sports are a means to a greater end; they promote discipline and teamwork. And because our student-athletes play on teams with young men and young women from all boroughs, players learn the great lesson of diversity and the value of multiple approaches towards the same goal.
Team Offerings and Achievements
As part of the Inwood Campus sports teams, HSEI participates in Men's Soccer, Women's Basketball, Men's Basketball, Women's Softball (Varsity and Junior Varsity), Men's Baseball (Varsity and Junior Varsity), Women's Badminton, and Women's Volleyball. Last year, about 150 students participated in our athletic program. Most teams participate in the Public School Athletic Association (PSAL), and our Baseball varsity team has won 2013, 2017, and 2018 championships as part of the Charter School Athletic Association (CSAA).
Athletic Facilities
HSEI students enjoy the use of Inwood Campus' practice track and field, fitness center, and two gyms in addition to our local public parks available to us 7-days a week.
Participation Requirements
All student-athletes need a current physical (within one year of physical examination) and an emergency card on file with the school nurse before participating in any practices or games. Physical forms and emergency cards are available from the School Nurse's office and at the main office.
