The High School for Excellence and Innovation "HSEI" believes every student can earn a high school diploma and be prepared for college and 21st century career paths. We are committed to cultivating in each student a desire to learn, take appropriate risks, and meet challenges. All of our students have the ability to achieve at high levels with confidence, respect and purpose. 

Our Mission is to develop the whole child with a commitment to helping all students succeed by sustaining and upholding excellence through system-wide innovation and collaboration. As such, we believe all students are agents of constructive change for the home, community and the world.

Founded in 2009, The High School for Excellence and Innovation (HSEI) is the first school of its kind in the New York City Public School System. Unlike traditional transfer schools that accept students who are behind one or more years in high school, HSEI targets over-age students in 8th grade, in order to provide individualized support from the beginning of their high school experience. Here, students who are off-track before high school can catch up and earn their diploma.
